Rik Currier's Bio:
Rik is a native of Orange County playing high school baseball at Capistrano Valley for Bob Zamora. While in high school Rik was fortunate to receive a scholarship to the University of Southern California. While at USC Rik became a stand out collegiate pitcher. He is a member of the National Championship team in '98, PAC-10 Champion '01. He also a participant in the college world series 3 times. He was the PAC-10 Pitcher Of The Year in '00, and a two time All-American. He compiled 38-14 record and is currently the all-time career strikeout record holder at USC (449), and listed third in wins.
During his summers while in college he played in the Cape Cod League for the Chatham A's. During his two summers there, he was a member of the championship team in '98, he was a two time All-Star, and the Pitcher of the year in '99. Rik also became a member of the Cape Cod League Hall of Fame in '06.
After his collegiate career he was drafted by the Yankees in the 6th round. He played four years for the Yankees and reached AA playing for the Trenton Thunder. During the last three years of his playing career Rik played for the Long Beach Armada. While playing for the Armada Rik had his contract bought by the Camden Riversharks (Atlantic League), and the Petroleros De Minatitlan (Liga Mexicana). He also was the Armada's pitching coach in '08.
Currently: Rik is the founder and president of the Orange County Baseball Authority (www.teamocba.com). He also created the OCBA Colts (www.ocbacolts.com) that is based in Ladera Ranch. Rik has been giving pitching lessons for the past 10+ years and he considers this his passion. The age groups that he teaches are from 8 years old to college age students.
